While WNYC’s John Schaefer–hosted “Soundcheck” attracts a diverse array of performers to its studio, tonight’s ticketed Greene Space confluence of music and comedy is particularly inspired. Previously noteworthy for her hilarious routine about ’80s belter Taylor Dayne, Tig Notaro blew the comedy world’s collective mind last year with a half-hour set in Los Angeles (released simply as Live) about her recent cancer diagnosis and the insanity of God. Then there’s 30 Rock’s Jeff Richmond, the producer who also composed the late, lamented show’s caffeinated music. And finally, “sacred steel” guitarist Robert Randoloph plays his popularized version of the electrifying gospel sound that emerged from a group of Pentecostal churches—which might not make you laugh but will surely make you happy.
