Not the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs you grew up with, the famous fairy tale gets a grotesque twist when Paul McCarthy installs WS, his largest exhibition in the U.S. to date, at the Park Avenue Armory. In McCarthy’s 8,800-square-foot forest, walk among towering trees until you find a replica of the artist’s childhood home, where video projections of McCarthy (dressed as Walt Disney) and the fairy tale characters are so perverse that no one under 17 is permitted. For more McCarthy, head to Hauser & Wirth (511 West 18th Street) tomorrow for the opening of Rebel Dabble Babble, a collaboration between McCarthy and his son, Damon McCarthy, inspired by Nicholas Ray’s 1955 movie Rebel Without a Causeand starring—who else?—James Franco. At the Armory on Friday nights, the installation stays open late with a special bar that serves drinks until 11.
