Let’s face it—when you’re on the subway platform and your face begins to melt from the summer heat, few things sound as comforting as a bowl of cold ice cream. Today, take the train to the cool escape you’ve been dreaming of when the Brooklyn Ice Cream Takedown brings together 30 different local homemade ice creams competing for votes from a panel of experts and the audience. Host Matt Timms says most of the flavors are “bonkers,” like last year’s corn cardamom, cotton candy custard, and even one that featured hot peppers. And don’t feel too guilty if you have to be rolled out of the event—a portion of the proceeds go to the Women’s Education Project.
