WILD THING

A popular movie gets a live musical accompaniment

When Beasts of the Southern Wild hit theaters last year, moviegoers fell in love with the film’s tiny protagonist, Hushpuppy. Played by Best Actress Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis, the six-year-old
heroine struggles to survive in her long-forgotten bayou community that faces a torrential hurricane. For tonight’s Celebrate Brooklyn! screening, director and composer Benh Zeitlin teams up with Dan Romer, Wordless Music Orchestra, and Slavic Soul Party to present his film with a live musical accompaniment. Roll out the blankets, settle down under the stars, and prepare to be transported 1,300 miles south to Louisiana.
