There’s far more to Art Spiegelman than Maus, the Holocaust memoir that garnered him a Pulitzer in 1992. A new book—the giant-size Co-Mix: A Retrospective of Comics, Graphics, and Scraps—illustrates how much more, plunging the reader into a cornucopia of styles and subjects, all tackled with antiestablishment verve. A retrospective of Spiegelman’s career opens November 8 at the Jewish Museum, spanning the artist’s early days in counterculture comix through the founding of RAW to later works like 2008’s Portrait of the Artist as a Young %@&*!.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays-Sundays, 10 a.m. Starts: Nov. 9. Continues through March 23, 2013
