"The only thing savin' yer life is I don't look good in orange and I hate stripes," wryly quips Brandy Clark reasoning as to why she doesn't just shoot an unfaithful lover in her bed. That's from "Stripes," the single off of Clark's 2013 solo debut 12 Stories, critically acclaimed and partly responsible for slotting Clark among the ongoing renaissance of women in country music. Prior to her album release, the Nashville singer/songwriter wrote hits for Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert, and the Band Perry, but now she's gaining attention for her position left of the country radio center, and right at the split of mainstream acceptance. Catch her darkly funny, provocative style of country, paired with headliner Jennifer Nettles (half of renowned contemporary country duo Sugarland) touring in support of her January solo release That Girl, and you're practically sitting in the Grand Ole Opry.
