GOOD OLD DAYS

Swing back in time at New York’s most nostalgic picnic

New Yorkers, it seems, just can’t get enough of the roaring twenties. The Jazz Age Lawn Party returns for its ninth year, bringing revelers to Governor’s Island as they hearken back to the days of clandestine drinking and Charleston dancing. Gatsby it up and browse antique gramophones (can’t have enough of those), pose for vintage portraits, and take in performances from vaudeville to jazz music, with party founder Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra headlining. Make sure you’re dressed to dine with your fellow fops and flappers. The menu is helmed by chef and restaurateur Jimmy Carbone of Jimmy’s No. 43, offering a raw bar, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. And a Jazz Age party, of course, requires plenty of lubrication, so sip on a St. Germain cocktail, thankfully not brewed in a bathtub.
