Under the auspices of ROVE (formerly RoofTop Dance), five innovative performers and their posses take up residence in a window north of Grand Central for Close Encounters, each team clocking in two 11-hour days over the course of two weeks. Come on by for a glance or stay all day. See Tony Carlson (“practices of the body,” including eating, dancing, bathing, story telling and other collective activities), Walter Dundervill (“an evolving tableau of color and texture”), Lonely Goat (making a film that you can watch through a peephole, but not that kind of film), Molly Poerstel (exploring “themes of the female animal”), or The Space We Make (works “intended to stir the metaphysical pot”). They occupy the slot until 7, but happy hour in the hotel starts at 5 nightly.
Mondays-Sundays, 8 a.m. Starts: June 16. Continues through June 27, 2014
