Remote Patrol

Fridays at 8:30 on WB

I can't decide if this is a smart show masquerading as a dumb one or vice versa. Either way, this new comedy has a fair share of clever repartee, despite the seriously silly premise of two twin sisters—one blonde, the other brainy—forced to run their family's lingerie company. Any sitcom that messes with our minds by bringing together ex-Roseanne devil spawn Sarah Gilbert and larva-lipped Melanie Griffith can't be all bad.

Tuesdays at 9 on Sundance

This eight-part series follows four articulate transgender college students in varying states of transitude. Gabbie is a full-on geek who's pinning all her hopes on male-to-female sexual-reassignment surgery; Lucas, who now identifies fully as a guy, is dealing with his issues while stuck at an all-female university.

Get Up, Stand Up: The Story of Pop and Protest
September 28 at 9 on PBS
