COOKING UNDER FIRE
April 27 at 8 on PBS
Über-chefs Todd English and Ming Tsai play the Donald role in this culinary reality competition, but instead of booming "You're fired," the judges eighty-six each loser by handing him or her a frying pan marked "86." Ouch.
THE MILLION DOLLAR RECIPE
May 2 at 8 on Bravo
Forget the sophisticated palates of Cooking Under Fire; this sweet program about the Pillsbury Bake-Off is more like a return to Mayberry, as ordinary Americans attempt impossible feats like squeezing a Caesar salad into a Pillsbury crescent roll.
April 30 at 8 on HBO
Another quality historical biopic from HBO, Warm Springs thoroughly de-Sex and the City-fies Cynthia Nixon, who plays a young Eleanor Roosevelt coming into her own after husband Franklin (Kenneth Branagh) is paralyzed. Focusing on FDR's development of the first polio rehabilitation center, it reframes the 32nd president as a disability rights pioneer who nevertheless proceeded to hide his crippled legs from the world.
