Best Public-Access Tv Show (2008)

Monday night at home, and you're indulging in an herbal livener—you usually wait till the weekend to do this, but your job sucks so much that you just need to relax already. Flipping channels, you stumble across what looks like a Kroft Superstar hanging out at a comic-book convention. Then they switch to folks in similar costumes abducting a woman in front of a Brooklyn brownstone. Welcome to the TV adventures of KID AMERICA, best known for their superb self-released CD of kiddie sampladelia, Bandy (available at Other Music). They may not remain local for long, though: The show has just been picked up to air in Japan. Mondays, 11:30 p.m., channels 34 (Time Warner Cable) and 107 (RCN)
