best small bird to destroy a corporate two-day music festival (2008)

Weeks before the infamous Field Day Festival was scheduled to throw down, local authorities began grumbling about refusing mass gathering permits, a wily promoter started concealing panic behind a thin veil of denial, and the Long Island Pine Barrens Society set out to sing the high, lonesome song of the GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, an increasingly rare critter which had already reserved the Calverton site for its seasonal egg-laying. The Barrens' legal claim eventually fell apart (Suffolk County's stuck), but not before effectively frightening off anyone who lingered on the hippie end of indie hipsterdom.
