Best Cheap Trip to the Tropics in Soho (2008)
Let your eyes salute the altars to Yemaya and Ochun at the entrance to Ideya, where bodega and bistro blend. Snag a table and indulge in one of the myriad riffs on a rum theme, or signal for a beer. Then let the light bacalaitos and the cheese-filled arepas take you south of the border. Some of the appetizers, like the camarones a la parilla, could be light entrées, while the cumin-scented pork loin is made for the hungrier folk. It's Soho, but you'll get out without having to mortgage your hopes of a real vacation.
