Best East Side '50s Food (2008)

Tucked away amid the dolled-up delis, new wave eateries, and sushi bars, this venerable East Sider hosted the likes of Walter Winchell and had a liquor license in the 1880s. Today, Billy's offers blasts from the past like a meat-filled shepherd's pie topped with real mash, a creamy chicken à la king complete with the too green peas I remember from my youth, and a masterfully done fish and chips. All this and killer Bloody Marys keep 'em coming back.
