Best fantastic franchise fries (2008)
The appearance of a new burger chain wouldn't necessarily merit more than a yawn, except that the french fries at Joe's Bestburger are totally dope, beating the pants off McDonald's, Burger King, and all their hairy pals. Even by French-bistro standards the fries are superlative: high-moisture potatoes cut into irregular thick matchsticks, with little swatches of skin adhering here and there, fried to a burnished brownness. You won't need ketchup or mayo. Other exemplary fare includes a lush double cheeseburger that reminds me of California's Fatburger chain—there's one in Jersey City if you insist on testing the veracity of this claim.
