Traditional Jamaican soups are not for the faint of heart or the casual eater. Dense with vegetables and meat, rich in long-cooked flavor, they are hearty fare for hardy folk. Jimbojean serves up a luscious red pea soup that would give many a Jamaican granny a run for her money. Thick with creamy cooked-to-melting peas, scented with fresh thyme and a hint of Scotch Bonnet, and finished with a seriously consistent dumpling, it's the stuff of my dreams.
