There was the distinct sound of gasps and a holding of breaths when CITY BAKERY packed up and moved a few months ago to a new location. Thankfully, all the good stuff is still available, with a few new items—some good, some inspired but ultimately unsuccessful clunkers. The salad bar—mainly cold and room-temperature stuff—has been extended, and remains the best in town. Here are a few recent selections: endive baked with grana cheese, marinated tofu with miso dressing, romano beans bathed in garlic and olive oil, deep-fried catfish, and a stunning salad of icicle radishes, purslane, and thyme.
