Most ingenious Indo-Chinese (2008)
What looked like a minor ripple has now become a major fad. There are now at least a dozen cafés—mainly in Curry Hill, Jackson Heights, and Elmhurst—serving Chinese food geared to Indian tastes, which means lots of garlic, ginger, green onions, and chile peppers, but no curry spices. Chief expositor of this newbie cuisine is Chopstick, where the best dishes include "chilli goat" and breaded beef pakora. While the food is already plenty spicy, you can ramp up the heat with any of the homemade table condiments, which run along a chile sauce/chile vinegar axis.
