best desecrater of a new york institution (that it didn't self-inflict) (2008)

If the Jayson Blair fiasco made you even more suspicious of the mainstream media, turn to art for some higher truths—GEOFF GROGAN's shredded New York Times collages, for instance. Recycling colorful scraps into scenes of comic-book conflict with indecipherable dialogue, Grogan pictures current geopolitics about as accurately as the regular Times, and with more admirable fabrication technique. The joke of applying the most time-consuming process to the most disposable images remedies the paper's stubborn lack of a comics page, too.
