Best cheap designer store (2008)

Marc Jacobs

The genius of Marc Jacobs—his stewardship of Louis Vuitton, the way he manages to be the toast of two continents and yet still be found making out with hot guys in louche watering holes to this day—is further evidenced by his boutique on Bleecker Street, an accessories emporium where, instead of the $1,500 Jacobs cashmere pullovers and $400 mouse shoes—his usual stock in trade—the merchandise is beyond cheap. Plus, if you want to buy gifts for your pretentious friends, almost everything is decorated prominently with the designer's name. A few examples: Marc Jacobs lipstick pens for $1.50, glitter rings for $5, and even—believe it or not—packs of Marc Jacobs Band-Aids for $1.90.
