Best Shop for Baby Gifts (2011)

Pink Olive

Tired of buying the same old baby stuff, cute as it might be, from registries or department stores? Pink Olive breaks the mold of wee children's stores in that you will secretly want at least half of its offerings for yourself, whether you have a child or not. Owner Grace Kang "is on a constant search for an eclectic mix of whimsical gifts for happiness and home," and her mission is evident as you set foot into the shop and are surrounded by the cutest in handmade sock monkeys and woolly sheep dolls, adorable organic onesies (for edgier types, there's a skull and crossbones one, too), blankies, baby tees, and gold baby moccasins. Because it's not just a store for babies, though, there's plenty to enjoy as grown-ups, from letterpress-printed stationery and cards, books and prints, soap, candles, and beauty goods, and tote bags for moms and single ladies, too. But back to the baby stuff! Even the gift cards are as sweet as can be, emblazoned with a graphic olive tree and pink and green lettering. And no baby shop would be worth its salt without it offering a Sophie the Giraffe teether, which "makes a happy sound when squeezed."
