Best New Dance Spot (2013)

If you follow, attend, or even look down your nose at new dance spots in this city, our pick here shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Put another way: Output lives up to the hype. Sitting across from Brooklyn Bowl on the corner of Wythe Avenue and North 12th Street, the venue has a Funktion-One soundsystem that's as good as you'll find just about anywhere and works like a magnet for drawing quality DJs and energetic dancers to the 450-capacity main room. Plus, the roof's canopy bar offers a relaxed atmosphere with a skyline view. The line is that it brings Manhattan-style nightlife to Williamsburg, but what Manhattan club is booking day parties, like Que Bajo?! and Ghe20 G0th1k, before labels like Hyperdub and Hessle Audio arrive to keep you dancing all night? Policies against bottle service and photography might be reactionary, but they're reactionary in the best way.
