Best New Workout (2013)
The Cronut was a revolutionary idea because it combined two delicious pastries into one. Along those same lines (but far, far healthier) is Aqua, a new indoor cycling studio in Tribeca that blends our two favorite things: a spin workout and swimming. Much more challenging and fun than a typical spin class, each Aquacycling session (depending on the instructor) incorporates swimming techniques while mixing in standard spin methods. It's especially good for core strengthening: As you're pedaling, you're also using your abs to coordinate your arm movements while trying to stay seated on the bike. Classes routinely have 15 people per session—right now, only women are allowed—and cost about $40. Guests also pay $2 for a pair of jelly flats.
