When Brennan & Carr was founded in 1938, much of this part of Brooklyn was still fields of waving grasses, but now the stockade-style premises (with their own parking lot!) is crowded onto a little patch of Gravesend Neck Road. The bill of fare is still mainly Irish-style roast beef sandwiches au jus and things that go along with them, and the dark interior still rustic woods and Civil War paintings—out of place in this increasingly Russian and Jewish neighborhood.
