O'Connor's
Hands down the best bar in Brooklyn, O'Connor's, run by the same family for more than 65 years, is refreshing because it is totally unpretentious. You just sit and talk and drink Budweiser, or whatever. They sell cigarettes and chips. There's not even an annoying pool table. The bathroom doors don't lock. The booths are pretty creaky. Sometimes there are weird, cultish movies from decades ago playing on the lone TV. The jukebox is excellent (the Who, the Kinks, the Pretty Things, Modern Lovers, lots of country). It's like the best "dive" bars of Manhattan without the hordes of punchy college students on weekends.
