A duffer's paradise, the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers houses 52 heated and weather-protected hitting stalls inside a four-level, Japan-style complex. With its 200-yard, net-enclosed artificial-turf fairway, golfers tee off toward the Hudson River and dream of breaking 90. Save unneeded strain on your back by using the automated tee-up mechanism. Show up during off-peak hours for reduced rates. Otherwise, be prepared to pay $20 for fewer than 90 balls. If the cost is too high, trek to the Bronx and the recently completed Family Golf Center just outside Co-op City, on 1825 East Gun Hill Road.
