As a general rule, the pickings on Canal Street get better the closer you get to Broadway, but give yourself a few hours to peruse every hole in every wall. She who is patient with the crowded and often smelly streets will be the one with the best "Prada" bag at the end of the day. The best knockoffs are, unfortunately, not the monogrammed luggage so popular right now—the Louis Vuitton and Fendi bags are pathetic at best (the Fs are Es)—but convincing Kate Spade striped handbags, Prada minibowling bags, and Gucci saddle bags are all ready for a fabulous label-whore night on the town.
