Warehouse Wine & Spirits
New York has more than a handful of great wine shops, but no great liquor store. True, there are plenty of places with wide selections of high-end tequilas and single malts and suchlike. But if your tastes run to mixology, to the careful construction of the cocktail, you've got problems. How are you going to perfect that El Presidente1 1/2 oz. white rum, 3/4 oz. dry vermouth, 1/2 oz. orange curaçao, dash of grenadineif all your favorite wine emporium stocks is blue curaçao? (You'll end up with something resembling Windex.) Even the most deeply stocked local shops turn shallow when it comes to booze: There's simply no one store that can supply everything you might need. Of what's out there, however, the best place to start is the newly expanded Warehouse Wine & Spiritslow on the high-end stuff, but lots and lots of mixers, and cheap.
