Best Olde New York Saloon - 2000
Old Town Bar & Restaurant
For the second year running, the oh-so-pleasant Old Town Bar & Restaurant shapes up as our favorite old-timer. It's not that it stands aloneMcSorleys, the Landmark, the Brooklyn Inn, the bar at Peter Luger, P.J. Clarke's, Fanelli's, and the White Horse all have strong claims on our affections. But the Old Town seems to have the best mix of past and present, history and life. It doesn't hit you over the head with its pastit goes back to 1892but it's not a place to get irradiated on mojitos (or whatever's in vogue this week), either. And the grub isn't bad.
