Best Place for Kayaking New York 2000 - Downtown Boathouse at piers 26 and 64

If you have great memories of kayaking down the old summer-camp lake, the Downtown Boathouse at piers 26 and 64 is the ultimate place to relive them. The volunteer-run boathouse owns about 20 kayaks, available for free public use, and sponsors free three-hour excursions to the Statue of Liberty or Intrepid Museum on Saturdays at 8 a.m.; space is extremely limited and determined by a weekly lottery. And yes, you're guaranteed to get soaked.
