Best Saganaki in Astoria - 2000
I was introduced to Telly's Taverna by a Greek friend who came so often that she was treated like a member of the family. It's the place to go for saganaki. Indeed, the olive-oil-fried kasseri cheese was amazing. Slightly crusty on the outside and bubbling and runny within, it was perfect drizzled with a squeeze or two of lemon juice, pulled into strings, and eaten plain without the bread to interfere with the taste. Yum.
