Best Spot for Sheet Music New York 2000 - Colony
Anyone who buys CDs at Colony deserves what they get, and anyway the store seems to be doing most of its business these days in karaoke gear. So head to the back, for a selection of current sheet music, band and album songbooks, and "classic Broadway hits of the mid '80s"type anthologies that beats anything on Music Row proper. Naturally, they're heavy on Lords of the Axe transcriptions, Lloyd Webber ballads, and ex-Mousketeer pop, but if you dig a little they've got nearly everything on the charts, a reasonably deep assortment of older pop and show tunes, and scary filing cabinets with yellowed sheet music at nosebleed prices. Can't recommend asking the salesdrones about anything, though.
