Best Poetry Reading Series New York 2001 - DIA Center
One of the best poetry readings I\\\'ve been to was when Denis Johnson took the mic at the DIA CENTER and in between poems, regaled the audience with tales of his time in the loony bin. Of course, I also went to one of the worst readings at the Dia, when a pretentious frog, who looked like a dullard banker, droned incessantly in French while not bothering to translate. Overall, the Dia has a solid lineup of intelligent and inventive poets, from Susan Howe to Ann Lauterbach, whose crisp, oblique words chime nicely against this cavernous, interdisciplinary backdrop. Tickets are $3 for students, $6 for adults.
