Best Subway Mural New York 2001 - 81st Street Subway Stop
Life underground has few bright spotsunless you\'re a mole, of course, or a prairie dog. None of which you\'ll find on the walls of the 81ST STREET SUBWAY STOP on the West Side of Manhattan. What you\'ll see instead are long, delightful murals depicting a menagerie of animals: dinosaurs, elephants, rhinos, owls, and other creatures big and small. The tilework acts as a lovely prelude to visiting the Museum of Natural History. Unlike at the museum, you can run your hands over these invitingly tactile images. Take the B or C line and stay either on the first or last car (depending on whence you come, up- or downtown), so that you can view the whole menagerie walking to the 79th Street exit to the museum.
