Whiting Fried to Perfection New York 2001 - Sheryl's Cafeé

Harlem is fried whiting capital of the world, and you can get it on nearly every corner. Thus it can only be after great deliberation that I bestow the palm on SHERYL'S CAFÉ, a newcomer to the neighborhood, though it offers the kind of excellent Southern food that tiny Mama-run cafés have been producing in Harlem for 80 years, of which very few remain. Don't miss the Carolina-style red rice, all moist and clumpy and on the spicy side.
