When first published in 1955, J.P. Donleavy's comic novel THE GINGER MAN was banned in the U.S. But it did eventually reach the States and lend its name to this midtown bar specializing in single-malt scotches and a whole mess of beers that taste like soda pop with a kick. At last count, the menu featured two ciders, three fruit beers, two barley wines, and a handful of white ales, and that's what's just on tap.
