CABARET LAW

It came as a shock to everyone when the Department of Consumer Affairs announced a public hearing on the CABARET LAW—since multiple political groups have been trying to get the ear of the government agency responsible for giving the licenses ever since Giuliani resurrected the outdated legislation. The law, second only to the smoking ban, is one of the most backward city edicts currently enforced. Punishing clubs for allowing dancing without a license is just plain silly; punishing clubs for violating noise and safety regulations is the smart route. Maybe DCA will finally agree.
