Best environmentally friendly building New York 2004 - AUDUBON HOUSE

It may look like just another Noho brownstone accommodating a French Connection and an Aldo shoe store, but AUDUBON HOUSE is actually a remarkable feat of forward-thinking architecture and science. Built in 1891, the structure was dramatically renovated in the early 1990s to become the headquarters for the National Audubon Society. Audubon House features an energy-saving design, an emissions-reducing HVAC system, and flooring and walls created from recycled materials, making it a model of conservation and efficiency.
