Best place to drink on Fridays - 2004
JEREMY'S ALE HOUSE
If there's one bar with plenty of fansand we're not talking the whirling kindit's JEREMY'S ALE HOUSE. How else do you explain the die-hard regulars who meet up at this South Street Seaport institution every Friday after work, no matter the weather or the bar's location (there've been five incarnations since 1974)? Actually, any day's a good day to chug one of Jeremy's Styrofoam buckets of suds (especially in the morning, when 32 ounces of Coors will set you back a measly $1.75), but the blue-collar Joes and masters of the universe jostling elbows at the bar are in particularly fine form when the work week is done, proving that beer, especially when served in a "bucket," is the great equalizer.
