LA KALLE

When Latino Mix 105.9 flipped to become the (mostly) all-reggaetón LA KALLE in May, it was as much an embrace of the burgeoning form as it was a middle finger to their old competition over at La Mega 97.9, who are still stuck catering to a host of demographic interests—salsa, merengue, bachata, and so on. It's a thrilling KDAY-esque endorsement of a talented generation, but lumping all Latinos under one banner will doubtless have cultural critics fuming 25 years out.
