Annie O.

Snow globes and Big Apple magnets won't be found at the Hotel on Rivington's gift shop, Annie O. This is instead the place to locate souvenirs New Yorkers would like to buy for themselves. Dangerously located amid the bars and clubs of the Lower East Side and open late (from 11 a.m. until midnight, Tuesday through Sunday), Annie O. is a magnet for booze-fueled shopping splurges. The shop's curator, Annie Ohayon, has a good eye for what the downtown hipster wants (there's loads of elegant skull-and-crossbones jewelry), as she's a former music publicist for Lou Reed and Smashing Pumpkins, among others. Items most likely to end up on the credit card after three martinis: Acrylic timepieces by Toy Watch ($175 to $295), red handmade square-framed sunglasses from Blinde ($280), and eco-chic organic-cotton Loomstate T-shirts ($55). For the more sober barhopper with only $25 to spare, good finds include Freeze lip gloss; polka-dot Havaiana flip-flops; rose, star, or skull pins; Lomolito disposable cameras; and Nat Shermans. Souvenir most likely to be regretted in the morning: a vintage Rolex, $3,500.
