Cuddle Party

Whether you're single or coupled up, I'm sure you could use a hug, a back rub, or just someone with a shoulder to cry on. Enter Cuddle Party, founded by sex educators Reid Mihalko and Marcia Baczynski. These snuggle-fests take place everywhere from apartments to office spaces and feature an introduction about the group's philosophy and how to say yes or no to requests. Then everyone's set free to cuddle, give back rubs and foot rubs, make out, talk, or simply sit and watch. There's no overt pressure, though most people there want to at least make new friends. I've had my hair braided and my back massaged; I've made out and held hands. One fabulous rule: No sex or dry humping is allowed. It's a PG-13 event, not a pickup scene. As with any group setting, there'll be some people you gravitate toward and some you want to steer clear of, and you're encouraged to set and respect boundaries. The vibe can morph from touchy-feely granola to intensely personal to ho-hum. It may take a while to get used to snuggling up to people you don't know, but if you're open to new possibilities, you'll likely walk out with a high that comes solely from simple human interaction.
