Menkui Tei
Relative newcomer Menkui Tei would be welcome if only because it's an excellent source of cheap eats on Cooper Square, but the place gives Tokyo La Men a run for its money when it comes to punning with ramen, recognized in Japan as an alien import from China, but also beloved as a source of quick nutrition. Thus, in addition to the regulation shoyu ramen, miso ramen, and seaweed-broth menkui ramen, there's stamina ramen (enhancing male endurance) and jar jar ramen—a hot-weather concoction featuring cold wheat noodles heaped with spicy ground pork in thick soy sauce, named after the purse-toting Star Wars character Jar Jar Binks.
