No sweeter place to dine in Harlem than Florence's, where the menu merges West African food from Ghana and the Ivory Coast. (Note that the southern Ivory Coast hosts many Ghanaian refugees.) Treat yourself to a ball of white yam fufu sided with fresh okra soup (from Ghana), or a snapper braised or fried and sided with the Ivorian staple of manioc meal called attieké (ah-check-ay). Though the decor is limited to boxes of palm oil and other teetering African staples, it puts you in the mood for some of the most rib-sticking and interesting food in town.
