Surest sushi—Brooklyn - 2006
Let's face it, Brooklyn is not known for its sushi—in fact most of the places I've sampled sucked. But Bozu—a maze-like restaurant relentlessly decorated with red-lacquered heads of Daruma—offers sushi that's not just fresh, but original, too. The favored form of sushi is not the finger-shaped filet on a lozenge of rice, but the "bomb"—fish mounted atop a button of rice, which allows you to easily eat an entire piece without wondering if you should bite it in half. A selection of 18 pieces, enough to make a meal, goes by the name of party bomb.
