I used to have a hairdresser come to my house and (depending how drunk he was) give me great haircuts while I watched TV. When he got deported, I didn't know what to do. I hate sitting in the chair and staring at myself while carrying on boring small talk with some super-dumb gay guy or super-trendy mean chick. Kelly at Lotus Salon is neither, and I've never once found her drinking on the job. While it's easy to get a hipster haircut that may or may not flatter your features, Kelly will make you look like you're naturally hot. A master layerer, she can thin out thick hair without feathering it, making shelves, or giving you an accidental mullet/rat tail. She also throws in an excellent head massage with the shampoo, and she doesn't make you talk. But, shockingly enough, I like talking to her, especially when she offers to e-mail me a list of the best yakitori spots in midtown.
