Herman Melville's Moby-Dick opens (more or less) with the following pronouncement: "Some years ago—never mind how long precisely—having little or no money in my purse and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little. . . . It is a way I have of driving off the spleen, and regulating the circulation." Now the trips in Moby-Dick aren't exactly restful, but Melville's advice about the benefits of an ocean voyage holds true. And as most New Yorker's don't know a yardarm from . . . well, from anything, it's best that we get someone else to do our sailing for us. Thankfully, the Classic Harbor Line features a small fleet of gorgeous boats (teak, mahogany, climate control) and a staff adept at running them. An inexpensive ticket (trips start at $25) purchases all the salubrious effects of a sea voyage—plus complimentary beers—and none of the hard labor. Our spleens feel better already.
