United Cerebral Palsy of New York City
On the outskirts of Gramercy Park, directly across town from the many Chelsea art galleries, is a small but elegant window display of stirring abstract and landscape paintings?the works of participants in the programs of United Cerebral Palsy of New York City. For the last 15 years, UCP has sponsored tri-annual shows featuring dozens of these artists. You wouldn?t know by looking at their works, but many of them never painted before they joined the UCP art classes, which the organization conducts in its facilities, staffed by professional artists. Though the paintings (many of them acrylics on canvas) have found their way to Columbia University and Baruch College, these works still remain affordable art, priced between $350 and $600.
