Best Brooklyn Gallery

Brooklynite Gallery

The only stuffy thing at the Brooklynite Gallery are the loads of people who come in droves on opening nights, lured by handmade invitations that always promise a memorable musical experience (examples have included sets by Soulsonic Force and DJ Kool Herc). The gallery opened in 2008, as curator Hope McGrath tells us, "after three long years of construction and collecting just enough recycled refrigerator doors to finish doing the back façade of the space." And although Brooklynite Gallery might not be in the epicenter of hipster mania, it is at the main stage of real Brooklyn life. That urban aesthetic truly solidifies the gallery's mission of exposing street and pop art from around the world—by artists like BAST, AIKO, Remed, Miss Bugs, and Ben Frost—while presenting it in a manner that is innovative, interactive, and extremely attainable to audiences.
