So why does every wine bar in New York seem to pipe in that glassy, thin, innocuous piano pop, that nü-elevator nonsense? Is it supposed to add to the soi-adult atmosphere? City Winery, the intimate new wine space in Tribeca, seems to have solved the music crisis: They book live acts several times a week, with excellent taste in the city's indie scene. Brilliant Canadian classical-popster Patrick Watson, venerable guitarist Leo Kottke, gritty rock icon Marianne Faithfull, and more have taken the Winery stage this year. Cabernet sauvignon has never tasted so cool.
